“The more you overeat, binge eat or compulsively eat, the more you avoid doing what is necessary to resolve the stress, depression and anxiety of daily life.”
Ok guys, so here’s the thing– Until you start to peel back the layers of the onion and really get to the root of WHY you struggle with food addiction, binge eating, compulsive eating and over eating, it will indeed continue on and on. Trust me I have been there and I know many others have too. If you are a chronic dieter I’m sure the story went…you would lose the weight but it always came back on shortly after, which made you feel like a failure…right?
One thing I hear ALOT is: ” I just love food.I have no reason to eat sometimes but I have no control over it.”….Oh, but trust me that you do have reasons, you do have control & loving food is OK!
One reason is we eat to RELAX. Our lives are SO busy and we are not taking the time to be present and slow down to experience the pleasure of our food when we actually eat.
Another reason is we might be missing out on the LOVE and affection from a spouse or partner or just from anyone in life in general. Then we go to and use food to fill the VOID.
Another reason might be we are NOT happy with our job. We feel unappreciated, overworked, and taken for granted. Then again, we use food to numb our emotions.
These are just a few examples and the list goes on and on. This is why I am so passionate about the field of Eating Psychology and coaching people. No diets, not pills, no quick fixes, no cleansing programs…because they don’t work! They can’t cure sadness, pain, judgement, resentment, sustainable weight loss and so much more.
